JD Airlines Establishes Major Maintenance Base in Wuhu
JD Airlines, the aviation division of e-commerce giant JD.com, has officially announced the establishment of a major aircraft maintenance base in Wuhu, representing a significant investment in the city’s rapidly growing aviation sector.
The new facility, which will be located near Wuhu Xuanzhou Airport, will provide comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for commercial aircraft. With an initial investment of over 500 million yuan, the base is expected to create more than 800 high-skilled jobs in the region.
“Wuhu’s strategic location and excellent transportation infrastructure make it an ideal hub for our aviation operations,” said JD Airlines’ CEO. “This base will support our expanding cargo fleet and also serve third-party airlines operating in eastern China.”
The maintenance base will feature three hangars capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft, advanced diagnostic equipment, and specialized facilities for engine maintenance and avionics repair. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with operations commencing in early 2027.
This investment aligns with Wuhu’s broader strategy to develop its aviation industry cluster, which has already attracted several aerospace companies and logistics providers. The city government has committed to supporting the project with streamlined permitting and infrastructure improvements.
