Freelander Brand Relaunch Marks New Chapter for Wuhu’s Auto Industry
The iconic Freelander brand has officially relaunched in Wuhu with a spectacular unveiling ceremony, signaling a new chapter for the city’s automotive industry and demonstrating China’s growing capabilities in premium vehicle manufacturing.
The relaunch event, held at Wuhu’s Exhibition Center, showcased the brand’s completely redesigned lineup featuring advanced hybrid powertrains, cutting-edge infotainment systems, and sophisticated design elements that blend British heritage with Chinese innovation.
“Freelander’s return is more than a product launch—it’s a statement about Wuhu’s position in the global automotive landscape,” said the project director. “We’re combining international expertise with local manufacturing excellence.”
The new Freelander vehicles will be produced at Wuhu’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which has been upgraded with robotic assembly lines and AI-powered quality control systems. Initial production capacity is set at 100,000 units annually, with plans for expansion based on market demand.
Industry analysts have welcomed the relaunch, noting that Freelander’s positioning in the premium SUV segment complements Wuhu’s existing automotive ecosystem and strengthens the city’s competitive advantage in the evolving electric vehicle market.
