Ningma Intercity Railway Opens, Connecting Wuhu to Nanjing Metropolitan Area

The Ningma Intercity Railway (also known as Nanjing Metro Line S2) officially opened for initial operation on April 22, 2026. As the first inter-provincial suburban railway in the Nanjing Metropolitan Area, the line connects Nanjing’s Yuhuatai District with Ma’anshan’s Dangtu County, spanning approximately 54.23 kilometers with 16 stations.

The new railway offers direct 30-minute service between the two cities with a full-journey fare of only 9 yuan. Operating hours run from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. The line passes through Nanjing’s Banqiao New City and Binjiang New City, as well as Ma’anshan’s Huashan and Yushan districts.

For Wuhu residents, this opening marks a significant milestone in regional integration, providing convenient access to Nanjing’s metropolitan resources and further strengthening economic ties across the Yangtze River Delta region.
